    Love this stuff!!

I use the hemp bedding and coop refresh in my hen house and even with 65 chickens it doesn’t smell and it keeps the flies away. I also sprinkle it over their nesting pads to keep them smelling good. Nothing beats a clean fresh smelling hen house full of fresh eggs!

    Happiest chickens AND compost pile!

This might be pricey, but my goodness it works SO WELL with the coop conditioner! We built a large grow out pen in our garage, so our chicks have plenty of space until they’re feathered out well enough to move outside. It smells so fresh and the ammonia smell is definitely kept down. It absorbs moisture so well that our chicks have clean feet (even our babies with feathered feet).

What I didn’t anticipate was how active our compost pile is now. We all know fertilizer is more expensive and will be for who knows how long. Rich compost with plenty of nitrogen is more valuable than ever. I wanted lots of compost, faster. This is perfect, thank you for such a wonderful product!

We love hearing this! It sounds like your grow-out pen is giving those little ones a fresh, comfortable place to feather out, and we’re so glad Hemp Bedding is helping keep moisture and ammonia odors down while keeping even those fluffy feet clean!

The compost pile getting a boost is such a wonderful bonus! Hemp Bedding makes a great addition to compost, so it’s exciting to hear you’re getting rich, nutrient-packed compost out of it too. Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review and for choosing to give our Hemp Bedding a try. 💚

I’ll never use anything else again!

I don’t even know where to start because there are SO many good things to say! Pesticide free, dust free, farm grown in the USA, dries quickly, and our quail and chicken both love it! I have an autoimmune disease, and would be sick for days after cleaning the quail pen or the chicken coop - not anymore! And the quail coo happily and love throwing it around or burrowing into it. A win-win for everyone! Plus, it looks so good, which is a fun bonus. I am a fan and subscriber for life.

FAQ
  • Hemp hurd is the woody core of the hemp plant, which is highly absorbent, odor-resistant, and compostable.

  • The frequency of hemp bedding replacement will depend on how you manage your flock. As a general guideline, hemp bedding should be replaced when its full absorbency has been reached. The litter will no longer fluff up when you stir it, and it will feel heavier than dry hemp bedding. The number of chickens you have, the size of their coop, how much time the birds spend inside the coop, and feces management systems will all impact the longevity of the hemp bedding.

  • One bag will cover about 20 square feet with a 2 inch depth.

  • Absolutely! Hemp Bedding is excellent for all types of poultry, goats, horses, mice & rats, snakes, lizards, guinea pigs, pigs, cows, and rabbits.

  • Absolutely! Hemp hurd is biodegradable and excellent for your compost pile. It contains high levels of nitrogen, carbon, and other nutrients that improve soil fertility and plant growth.

  • Unlike most trees that would be used as bedding material, Hemp is a fast-growing crop that does not require pesticides, herbicides, or excessive water. It also lasts longer than traditional bedding, creating less demand for raw materials.By choosing hemp hurd as bedding for your pet chickens, you are caring for your feathered friends and the environment.

  • Yes! Hemp bedding is all natural and is safe for chickens if they accidentally consume some of the hemp hurds. Even though hemp bedding comes from the same family of plants as marijuana, it does not contain significant levels of the psychoactive elements found in cannabis plants. Our hemp bedding is suitable for chicks 1 week and older. To reduce the risk of impaction, please provide chick grit to aid in digestion while using bedding.

  • No. Hemp bedding does not attract pests, rather, quite the opposite. Hemp hurds contain natural pesticides calledcaryophyllene and humulene. These compounds enable the plant to be grown without insecticides since they naturally repel pests and parasites.
