    Switched to hemp

    This is so light and easy to handle- plus nearly dust free. I’m anxious to see how it holds up and have read that it helps keep the coop a little warmer which will be handy heading into winter. Plus a great, sustainable product !

    Hemp bedding for the win!

    I just switched over to this hamper bedding. I couldn’t be happier! And, my chickens are loving it. I plan to do the deep litter method.

    Even perfect for our hamsters and gerbils!

    This bedding is so low dust that we have been able to use it in our hamster and gerbil enclosures! We mix it in with paper bedding and hay, and it's great - very absorbent too!

    Ultra Soft Bedding

    I am caring for a disabled but still happy hen. She has limited mobility and frequently lays in her pen. Traditional shavings seemed rough on her bottom so I decided to give this bedding a try. It is, as advertised, very soft, much less dusty and I can give scoop droppings with a kitty litter scoop. I also used the coop scent powder which she seems to appreciate. The bedding is firm enough to give her better traction when moving in her pen.

    I don’t know how long she will live, but I am confident that she is as comfortable and clean as possible.

    I am very pleased with this product.

  • Hemp hurd is the woody core of the hemp plant, which is highly absorbent, odor-resistant, and compostable.

  • The frequency of hemp bedding replacement will depend on how you manage your flock. As a general guideline, hemp bedding should be replaced when its full absorbency has been reached. The litter will no longer fluff up when you stir it, and it will feel heavier than dry hemp bedding. The number of chickens you have, the size of their coop, how much time the birds spend inside the coop, and feces management systems will all impact the longevity of the hemp bedding. 

  • One bag will cover about 20 square feet with a 2 inch depth.

  • Absolutely! Hemp Bedding is excellent for all types of poultry, goats, horses, mice & rats, snakes, lizards, guinea pigs, pigs, cows, and rabbits.

It also lasts longer than traditional bedding, creating less demand for raw materials.By choosing hemp hurd as bedding for your pet chickens, you are caring for your feathered friends and the environment.

  • Yes! Hemp bedding is all natural and is safe for chickens if they accidentally consume some of the hemp hurds. Even though hemp bedding comes from the same family of plants as marijuana, it does not contain significant levels of the psychoactive elements found in cannabis plants. Our hemp bedding is suitable for chicks 1 week and older. To reduce the risk of impaction, please provide chick grit to aid in digestion while using bedding.

  • No. Hemp bedding does not attract pests, rather, quite the opposite. Hemp hurds contain natural pesticides calledcaryophyllene and humulene. These compounds enable the plant to be grown without insecticides since they naturally repel pests and parasites.
