• Why would I need to supplement with Vitamins and electrolytes?

  Essential vitamins and electrolytes can be especially beneficial for young chickens or during increased times of stress for your flock—particularly during heat waves. High temps can take a toll on chickens, potentially causing heat exhaustion. Other forms of stress for chickens that benefit from an immunity boost could be a season change, transporting or handling, introduction to a new flock member, nutritional excess/deficiency, or sickness to name a few. Providing electrolytes for chickens may mitigate health risks and can help your chickens thrive throughout all seasons.

• How often should I use Vitamins and electrolytes?

  For overall wellness, we generally recommend supplementing once a week; however, depending on the nutrition and trace minerals of the provided feed, you may choose to supplement more frequently.

  Environmental stressors can occur during a season change, extremely high or low temperatures, transporting or handling, introduction to a new flock member, nutritional excess/deficiency, or sickness to name a few. 

  Supplements are not a replacement for a healthy diet, and we always recommend prioritizing a healthy diet first built around daily nutritional requirements.

• Why is it a water supplement?

  When in recovery or experiencing stress, chickens go to water first, food second. By capitalizing on the water source, you can provide essential nutrients while boosting hydration so body functions can begin to improve, encouraging a return to a regular diet for energy and nutrition.

• Are the ingredients natural?

  Yes, they are! We use zero fillers and all-natural ingredients. Even our betaine source is a natural extract from sugar beets and is a natural pathway for water retention, as opposed to a synthetic source which is commonly used.

  We also never use fillers or add drugs or immunosuppressants. Every single one of our all-natural ingredients serves a purpose to unlock the genetic potential for your chickens to survive and thrive.

• Can I use Vitamins + Electrolytes with Prebiotics + Probiotics? 

  Most definitely. Depending on the individual bird or flock needs, you may choose to supplement with one or both. To increase overall flock health and especially in times of stress, it’s perfectly acceptable, even ideal, to use both, but if you want to stair step, we recommend starting with Prebiotic + Probiotic and working more in from there.

• Do I need supplements if I’m using a premium feed like Fresh Pecks?

  While Fresh Pecks is formulated to exceed your chickens’ daily needs and maximize their health, sometimes additional supplements are needed. Your flock’s diet is built around their daily nutritional requirements. No matter how high the quality of feed, a supplement is for stressors and circumstances—internal or external—when your flock would benefit from a boost: outside toxins & pollutants, extreme changes in temp, new flock mate, bird flu, transportation, coccidiosis, etc.

  Depending on the nutrition and trace minerals/quality of the provided feed, you may or may not need to supplement more frequently. We recommend prioritizing a healthy diet first and then using supplements at least once a week. A supplement should not be a replacement for a diet.

• Is there any harm in using it too often?  

  These products are formulated to be safe for daily consumption, however, always consult your veterinarian for full nutritional recommendations.

• Can it be mixed and stored in water?

  We always recommend mixing daily in fresh clean water, however, it can be mixed and stored for 3 to 5 days.
