    A First-Time Chicken Tender’s Favorite Upgrade!

As a first-time chicken tender, I started out using traditional pine shavings in my coop. After switching to Grubbly Farms Hemp Bedding, I can honestly say I’m never looking back!

The difference was noticeable right away. Hemp bedding is incredibly absorbent, much easier to clean, and does a fantastic job controlling odors. What impressed me most, though, was how little dust it produces compared to shavings. This gives me peace of mind knowing I’m creating a healthier environment for both my chickens and myself.

Cleanup takes less time, the coop stays fresher longer, and my flock seems perfectly comfortable scratching and nesting in it. If you're new to chickens or simply looking for a cleaner, safer bedding option, I highly recommend giving Grubbly Farms Hemp Bedding a try.

It has made caring for my little flock so much easier!

    The best!

Grubbly Farms is hands down the best hemp bedding we have used for our chickens. There is zero dust compared to another popular brand I was using which created a ton of dust. It is easy to scoop out the soiled hemp once a week and there are no smells coming from the coop. I also appreciate the large bag so I don’t have to worry about running out too soon. Thank you, Grubbly Farms!

Perfectly sized hemp bedding for easy cleanup

I've been looking for this size of hemp bedding for over a year. Most suppliers of hemp bedding use larger chunks of hemp which make it more difficult to sift during clean-up efforts. The bedding I received from Grubbly Farms is almost rice grain sized (a little larger). This works perfectly and makes the bedding so much softer feeling. Also, the smell is much sweeter than most. Almost as if it has aromatic herbs added to it. I will definitely be purchasing more over time. Below is a comparison pic of the Grubbly Farms hemp vs others. As you can see, the Grubbly Farms hemp (on the left) is much smaller and evenly cut vs the others.

    Finely shredded hemp bedding

I really like this hemp bedding, especially for raising chicks. It’s a nice, finely shredded size and is very soft and absorbent. It keeps the brooder smelling fresh for longer.

FAQ
  • Hemp hurd is the woody core of the hemp plant, which is highly absorbent, odor-resistant, and compostable.

  • The frequency of hemp bedding replacement will depend on how you manage your flock. As a general guideline, hemp bedding should be replaced when its full absorbency has been reached. The litter will no longer fluff up when you stir it, and it will feel heavier than dry hemp bedding. The number of chickens you have, the size of their coop, how much time the birds spend inside the coop, and feces management systems will all impact the longevity of the hemp bedding.

  • One bag will cover about 20 square feet with a 2 inch depth.

  • Absolutely! Hemp Bedding is excellent for all types of poultry, goats, horses, mice & rats, snakes, lizards, guinea pigs, pigs, cows, and rabbits.

  • Absolutely! Hemp hurd is biodegradable and excellent for your compost pile. It contains high levels of nitrogen, carbon, and other nutrients that improve soil fertility and plant growth.

  • Unlike most trees that would be used as bedding material, Hemp is a fast-growing crop that does not require pesticides, herbicides, or excessive water. It also lasts longer than traditional bedding, creating less demand for raw materials.By choosing hemp hurd as bedding for your pet chickens, you are caring for your feathered friends and the environment.

  • Yes! Hemp bedding is all natural and is safe for chickens if they accidentally consume some of the hemp hurds. Even though hemp bedding comes from the same family of plants as marijuana, it does not contain significant levels of the psychoactive elements found in cannabis plants. Our hemp bedding is suitable for chicks 1 week and older. To reduce the risk of impaction, please provide chick grit to aid in digestion while using bedding.

  • No. Hemp bedding does not attract pests, rather, quite the opposite. Hemp hurds contain natural pesticides calledcaryophyllene and humulene. These compounds enable the plant to be grown without insecticides since they naturally repel pests and parasites.
